Why "71º & Sunny?"

I consider 71º to be the perfect temperature. Not too cold and not too hot. I also love perfect sunny days. The vast majority of days are not 71º & Sunny and yet, all days were created by God's hand and they are still gifts, even if they don't fit my ridiculous definition of perfection. My struggle with OCD has at times imprisoned me in an impossible attempt to achieve perfection. I'm now learning to love all kinds of days that don't even come close to 71º & Sunny.

Please leave me a comment below. I really want to know what you are thinking!

Mission Statement

"71º & Sunny exists to educate others (especially the Christian Community) about the very real pain of anxiety disorders and depression, and also about the effective treatment that is available."

Sadly, too many Christians are treated (by fellow believers!) as if they are "defective" or weaker than others if they struggle with mental illness. Not so! Please know that all Christian communities are not like that. I do think that this is starting to change for the better as more people have access to good information about mental disorders. I'm blessed to be a part of a wonderful community of Christ followers that understands that mental illness is an illness just like any other. I want to extend that same kindness and support to you, whether you are a Christian or not. Welcome.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor, psychologist, or mental health provider. I have had no training in medicine or psychology. I am just someone who has lived with anxiety for all of my life and I have a deep desire to reach out to others to provide some comfort and maybe a little hope. Anything I write on my blog is simply my opinion and the sharing of my own life experience.
