Why "71º & Sunny?"

I consider 71º to be the perfect temperature. Not too cold and not too hot. I also love perfect sunny days. The vast majority of days are not 71º & Sunny and yet, all days were created by God's hand and they are still gifts, even if they don't fit my ridiculous definition of perfection. My struggle with OCD has at times imprisoned me in an impossible attempt to achieve perfection. I'm now learning to love all kinds of days that don't even come close to 71º & Sunny.

Could You Have OCD?

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor, psychologist, or mental health provider. I have had no training in medicine or psychology. I am just someone who has lived with anxiety for all of my life and I have a deep desire to reach out to others to provide some comfort and maybe a little hope. Anything I write on my blog is simply my opinion and the sharing of my own life experience.

Do you think that you may have OCD? The Westwood Institute for Anxiety Disorders in Los Angeles, CA, has a great checklist that may be helpful to you in determining whether you might have OCD. One thing that I do think is missing from this list is the act of avoidance. When my OCD was at its worst, I avoided going places, doing things, talking to people, etc. Avoidance is a compulsion. Of course, this checklist is not a substitute for seeing a psychologist in person, and I HIGHLY recommend that you contact a qualified therapist and set up an appointment with him or her if you suspect that you are suffering from a mental health issue.
