Why "71º & Sunny?"

I consider 71º to be the perfect temperature. Not too cold and not too hot. I also love perfect sunny days. The vast majority of days are not 71º & Sunny and yet, all days were created by God's hand and they are still gifts, even if they don't fit my ridiculous definition of perfection. My struggle with OCD has at times imprisoned me in an impossible attempt to achieve perfection. I'm now learning to love all kinds of days that don't even come close to 71º & Sunny.

Please leave me a comment below. I really want to know what you are thinking!

  1. You're sharing lots of good information, Sunny. Thank you. I like that about not having to like something to be able to handle it. That's a good reminder for me.

    1. Glad you're finding it helpful, Tina.

Oh, it was a VERY good reminder for me too. Sometimes I think a full recovery from OCD means that I won't find anything uncomfortable anymore. Where in the world did I ever get that idea?

  4. That is such a powerful point and it actually brought tears to my eyes because it made such an impression on me... the point that we don't have to like these things to do them. I think I avoid doing some of the ERPs because I don't like them -- I know it doesn't seem like that big of a revelation haha but it just really struck me this morning because I'm working (and avoiding) some hard stuff this week.

    1. Oh, Elizabeth - you just made my heart all warm and fuzzy!

Actually, I DO think it is a pretty big revelation. The funny thing is that I'm pretty sure I've heard that before, but I find that at some times I'm more able to receive certain information than at other times. I find this whole process of growing and beating OCD kind of like peeling layers off of an onion. I keep getting to deeper layers of truth and understanding of the disorder.
